I am a new patient, what can I expect?

First, welcome to our practice and thank you for entrusting us with your care! Here are some office expectations:

  • Safe Care: You will have paperwork on your first visit. In order to provide you with the best care possible, we need to know about you. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to complete paperwork. We can also mail you a copy if you request.

  • Patient-Centered Quality Care: You can expect a number of screenings. We care about you as a whole person, so you can expect we will ask a lot of questions. We can't help if we didn't ask the question.

  • Accessible Care: We offer same day appointments for both urgent and routine needs EVERYDAY, and at times that are convenient to most patients. We answer phones on Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM and have an answering service that can direct calls to the on-call provider. Need us after hours? Call: 215-701-8683.

  • Coordinated Care: We are patient-centered so you can expect that we will help guide you through the health care system if you need it. We can work with you to schedule necessary tests, book appointments with specialists. If you experience social needs such as transportation, food insecurity, or home care needs, we can help to arrange those services as well.

  • Continuous Care: If you are hospitalized we call you within 2 days after discharge and schedule an office visit within 5-7 days-this is a critical step of post-hospitalization because it helps to ensure you are getting the right care, taking the right medications, and getting the right assistance you need to recover.

How long are our visits?

Office visits are typically about 1 hour from the scheduled time of your appointment until check out.

What is the expected wait time for scheduling appointments?

We offer same day appointments daily to patients for both routine and urgent needs, they are provided at a first come, first serve basis. We are constantly evaluating the utilization of these visits to monitor in additional same day visits are needed.

  • If you are scheduling a routine appointment that isn't necessary for same days, we are currently scheduling all appointments within 2-5 days with our nurse practioner.

  • If you are scheduling with Dr. Attanasio, the current approximate day wait is about 22 days for routine visits. We encourage patients to book at their current appointment for their follow up this way it alleviates a phone call and its scheduled before you walk out the door.

We recommend completing labs one week prior to your next scheduled office visit, this way we will have time to receive the results and make the most of your office visit by reviewing the results in person.

I need to see a specialist, do I need a referral?

HMO plans frequently require a referral. Plan on requesting one. Our forms page has a copy of our referral request form. Some HMO insurances have eliminated referrals like Keystone 65 and Keystone First.

I need additional testing, do I need a Pre-Certification?

As insurers continue to reduce the cost of health care, they require additional approval steps to ensure a test meets their criteria for medical necessity. A general rule we follow is if the test is anything other than an x-ray or ultrasound (excluding cardiac and venous ultrasounds), you will require a pre-certification.
